Overview: The HP StorageWorks DAT 40 tape drive is a fast dependable backup solution for smaller servers. This DDS-4 tape drive stores 40 GB of compressed data on a single cartridge at a rate of 21.6 GB/hr (assuming 2:1 data compression). It reads and writes DDS-4 DDS-3 and DDS-2 formats with the added bonus of reading DDS-1 90m tapes as well making it compatible with most of the 9 million DDS drives that are in use today.
