This drive also features leading technologies such as Dual-Striped Magneto Resistive (DSMR) heads. DSMR heads allow data to be stored at a very high density providing higher capacity and enhanced reliability. It squeezes more data on each disk reducing the number of disks and heads required for a given capacity. With fewer heads and disks per GB the drive uses less power and generates less heat and sound. This drive is also S.M.A.R.T. (Self Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology) compliant to provide advanced warning of impending drive failure through IBM’s Netfinity Manager.
