This represents a 15 percent higher capacity and 20 percent faster throughput than the Quantum DLT 7000 tape drive. To ensure superior accuracy the Quantum DLT 8000 recording head boasts an average life of 50 000 hours. In fact the Quantum DLT 8000 tape drive is rated at 250 000 hours MTBF at 100 percent duty cycle which is 25 percent greater than previous DLTtape products.
