Overview: DLT (Digital Linear Tape) uses advanced linear recording technology a highly accurate tape guide system and an adaptive control mechanism to provide high-capacity high-duty cycle backups.??The DLT drive helps to reduce administration costs by providing up to 15 GB of native storage capacity for unattended operation. Built-in hardware compression provides up to 30 GB based on a 2: 1 compression rate. The DLT drive also reduces the effect of the shrinking backup window by providing a native data transfer rate of 4.5 GB per hour which is 3-4 times faster than any other technology. With 2: 1 data compression transfer rates of up to 9 GB per hour can be achieved. Based on today's classic backup software the DLT drive provides a typical performance of 3-6 GB per hour.
