HP ProLiant ML310 G5 Memory Configuration
Standard Memory
All HP ProLiant ML310 G5 models ship with unbuffered, ECC PC2-6400 DDR2
SDRAM running at 800MHz.
Dual-core models include a single 512 MB DIMM. Quad-core models include
a single 1GB DIMM.
Factory Integrated Models include the memory capacity of your choice.
Standard Memory Replaced with Optional Memory
Up to 8 GB memory is available with the optional installation of four
2 GB PC2-6400 Unbuffered ECC DDR2 SDRAM DIMM kits.
DIMM upgrades do not need to be installed in pairs
although installation of pairs (an equal size DIMM for each channel) provides
the best performance. The BIOS will detect the DIMM population and initialize
the system accordingly as follows:
Single-channel mode – DIMMs installed
for one channel only
Dual-channel asymmetric mode – DIMMs installed
for both channels but of unequal channel capacities.
Dual-channel interleaved mode (recommended)
– DIMMs installed for both channels and offering equal channel
capacities, providing the highest performance.
The first DIMM should be installed in Socket 1. A DIMM
should not be installed in Socket 2 without a DIMM in Socket 1. Likewise
a DIMM should not be installed in Socket 4 without a DIMM in Socket 3.
A DIMM need not be installed in Socket 2 in order to install a DIMM in
Socket 3.
Table 3-1 shows some of the suggested memory configurations
for these systems. NOTE: Table 3-1 does not list all
possible configurations. Balanced-capacity, dual-channel loading yields
best performance.
Hard Drives NOTE: The components of a storage
subsystem (e.g. the drive, the HBA/controller, firmware, and the server
backplane) should operate at the same data transfer rate or the system
bandwidth will be negotiated down to an acceptable level for all components.
