Overview:
The HP StorageWorks Modular Smart Array 1500 cs is a Fibre Channel SAN attached 2U controller shelf that connects to Serial ATA (SATA) or SCSI disk enclosure. This combination provides customers with a low cost high capacity storage solution. This solution has been designed as a hardware foundation for which future solutions can be designed and implemented for investment protection. The MSA1500 is perfect for those customers looking for less expensive storage solutions using HP SATA enclosure to store data that doesn't require a high degree of I/O performance and/or is viewed as non-critical to business operations. The MSA1500 with up-to-eight attached SATA enclosure can provide the customer with up to 24 TB (96 - 250 GB SATA disk drives) of raw capacity. If the business needs SCSI reliability then attach up-to-four SCSI enclosure for a raw capacity of 8.1 TB (using 56 - 146 GB SCSI disks).Mixing of SATA and SCSI enclosure are not supported behind the same controller at this time.
